In just our fourth year, The Fly Fishing Film Tour has become the fishing entertainment event of the year. The Film Tour will be seen in well over 80 cities in 2011 and will showcase some of the best independent outdoor film makers. The goal of the Fly Fishing Film Tour is to energize the industry and inspire film makers to create new cutting edge films to both entertain and educate outdoor enthusiasts. For the past two years we have been working on a fly fishing film project called Off the Grid. Our crew traveled to a variety of locations to film anglers and fish that, for us, were off the beaten path.  In essence, we tried to avoid as many of the "Big Name" waters, hatches and fishing grounds as we could. We visited a few regions that are by no means off the beaten path, but we show a different side of them. We edited our adventures into 19 different movies (170 minutes of content) - that are now available on the newly released DVD - here's what's on it:

Off the Grid:

The "title track," so to speak, is the hour long master cut that ties all of the major locations and segments into a (somewhat cohesive) story.

Bluewater:

If you spend 9 days on bluewater boats in the middle of the ocean, off the coast of Guatemala, fishing with the best captains, crews and anglers in the world - it turns out you get a ton of killer Marlin and Sailfish content. Bluewater is a short film about chasing some of the largest and fastest fish in the sea - with a fly rod in hand. (view trailer here)

Midwest Tour:

With segments featuring Brookies in Michigan, Carp in the Great Lakes and Pike and Smallies in Wisconsin Rivers - this film offers a brief look at a few of the fishing opportunities in the Midwest. (view trailer here)

Short Films:

We've included over a dozen short films: Drake Magazine award winners, Fly Tying Demos, and other short stories.

Action Cut:

A 15 minute montage/assortment of our favorite fishing segments and clips, cut to music.

Extras:

We don't usually film any instructional content or demos, but low and behold, we ended up with three segments as a result of all the filming. Nothing fancy, just three gifted tiers showing off favorite patterns.
